Can anyone tell me what the American GPA equivalents are to the U.K. honours degree system (1st, 2.1, 2.2, etc.)?

Thanks,
Crystal Samples

Hi Crystal,

1st = Summa Cum Laude (GPA 3.8 or higher)
2.2 = Magna Cum Laude (GPA 3.6 or higher)
2.1 = Cum Laude (GPA 3.4 or higher)

Just for clarity, a 2.1 in the UK is higher than a 2.2, so shouldn't the Magna Cum Laude and the Cum Laude be the other way around?

Best,
Karen

Exactly, Karen. The 2.1 should be the second and 2.2 the last one. Thus, it should be:
2.1 = Magna Cum Laude
2.2 = Cum Laude

Sorry for the mistake.

Hipyan
