Dear Ms. Avanceña,

I'd like to congratulate and thank you for this fantastic effort of yours.

I wonder if you've ever bumped into a Grant / Scholarship for localization / Arabization !

Any help is appreciated.

Thank you.

Close to your home base, the entity most interested in the topic of Arabization is Microsoft Egypt. It has a partner that offers scholarships, but I am unable to ascertain how far it covers your interests. You might try this as a starting point:

http://www.rayaholding.com/news_pressDescE.asp?lsid=123&ActiveLink=5&ActiveNews=2

Chevening Scholarships in Egypt cover IT:

To keep informed on the matter, I suggest periodically checking this link:

¢Ñ Arab Center for Arabization Translation Authorship and Publication (ACATAP)
www.acatap.htmlplanet.com/
Society Organizations Education.
Branch of Arab League Educational Cultural and Scientific Organization (ALECSO) for Translation of recent and valuable books in all fields of science and education ( Arab Center for Arabization Translation Authorship and Publication (ACATAP) ) it issues a periodical journal, "Arabization."

In the event you have any plans involving a specific institution within the geographical scope of the EU, please respond here so as to check if it can fall under the scope of Erasmus for Third Country cooperation.

TOPIC STARTER
I'm grateful to you..... Aug 17, 2004

Dear Ms. Avanceña,

I'm really grateful to you, but I already have won one of the general scholarships offered by companied like Raya, Microsoft.

I am a Sun Cerified Programmer and just would like, if possible, to obtain a postgraduate degree in a field related to Arabic translation, localization, or even teaching.

The Chevening Scholarships sounds ideal but they declare at their web site that "Competition for Chevening scholarships is intense, and only one in every 25 applicants is successful." Furthermore, I am Interview-Phobe !!

The (ACATAP) on the other hand is concerned only about Translation into Arabic and not localization.

If you bump into a grant / scholarship, even a distance one, concerning Arabic translation, localization, or even teaching provided by any EU country, I'd be much more grateful to you.

Thank you very much.

Best Regards,

No need for phobias Aug 17, 2004

This is all about merit. Prior to any interview, there are always papers to be done and screened.

Here's the EU page for Egypt explaining its Third-Country programmes:

http://www.eu-delegation.org.eg/en/Features/European%20comm%20off.asp

I'll keep this request in mind for any future developments.
