The Centre for Translation Studies of the University of Surrey has announced available funding opportunities for Masters and PhD research at its official website.

These include its special departmental research scholarship, the university research scholarship, the overseas research studentships for those who have already been accepted by the department, the Arts and Humanities Research Board awards for PhD candidates, the Chevening Scholarships for foreign nationals, the Alban Programme for Latin Americans, the Onassis and IKY scholarships for Greek nationals, the Statenslånekasse programme for Norwegians, CSN for Swedes, and Fulbright and Marshall programmes for US nationals.

By way of additional information, the Centre is offering a 1-year Translation MA scholarship on a competition basis, with an application deadline on the 30th of June this year.

Two minor bursaries for students studying the Chinese combinations are likewise available. (Application deadline June 30).

An essay competition on 'Why is translation still important when English is the global lingua franca?' has likewise been announced for a 1,500-pound award towards covering part of undergraduate/postgraduate/MA tuition fees. (Submission deadline June 1).

British students are eligible for grants from the Local Education Authority.
