Dear members,

ProZ.com Certified PRO certificates have been released and are now visible in profiles. They are located below the “Experience” field on the main tab of profiles belonging to members of the Certified PRO network. To view the certificate of a Certified PRO, just click on the language pair shown there.

If you have a certificate in your profile, note that you will need to use the visibility toggle to make it visible publicly.

If you have already submitted an application to the network, you will be able to read the status of your application and see a link to your application support request in this same field. If you have not applied to the network but would like to, you will see an "Apply now" link which you can click to begin completing your application.

A number of other additions have been made to the ProZ.com Certified PRO Network, in response to participants' feedback. ProZ.com Certified PROs now have tools which make it easier to organize into groups and job teams, and to collaborate with each other in file sharing, private KudoZ questions and forums. The Certified PRO tag is now also available as a search parameter in both directories, and is visible on job quotes, KudoZ questions and answers, forums, powwows, training sessions, and conferences.

The community is invited to apply for the Certified PRO network here: http://www.proz.com/pro-tag/info

Please feel free to look over the ProZ.com Certified PRO network FAQs at http://www.proz.com/pro-tag/info/faq and contact a staff member via support request if you have any questions. Thank you to all site members, for making this and other endeavors possible.

Best regards,

Jared

A suggestion Feb 27, 2009

It looks nice. Wouldn't it be good to have a signature (or two) on them?

It's nice to read that you like the certificate Feb 27, 2009

Dear Elías
It looks nice. Wouldn't it be good to have a signature (or two) on them?

It is nice to read that you like the certificate. In response to your question, the certificates will not have signatures on them, but your suggestion will be noted for further discussion later on.

Regards,

Patrick

You may display the certificate in your profile and outside the site Mar 2, 2009

Dear Maria,
I like them too, they look pretty. But... how/where do we use them?

You may display the certificate in your profile and outside the site where it is appropriate. However, the certificate does not qualify one to claim that he or she is a “certified” or “sworn” translator in areas where a legal significance is attached or legal status in any jurisdiction. Regarding the site, the certificate is currently an option on the classic job posting form for job posters and will be added to other areas of the site later on. Lastly, more effort will be placed on educating outsourcers about the network in order to create more opportunities for Certified PRO participants to collaborate and expand their business.

Regards,

Patrick

Make sure language pair is grey and then view your profile as a visitor Mar 2, 2009

Dear Kevin,
The visibility toggle doesn't seem to work!

If you click on the toggle option (and the language pair is grey), you should not be able to see the certificate when viewing your profile as "Force visitor's view" located on top of your profile.

Kind Regards,

Patrick

"Certified PRO" is a title or program that can be easily misunderstood Mar 2, 2009

Hi Patrick,

this is a very important point!

It should be made clear to EVERYBODY: to the ProZ community and to current and future clients and outsourcers. At the present time, "Certified PRO" is a title or program that can be easily misunderstood (at least at first glance).

By the way, I am a trainer myself and I know what professional certificates look like. I recommend to change the Certified PRO certificate to look more professional.

Thanks
Aniello
