The following new section has been added to the ProZ.com privacy policy, to describe how cookies are used when advertisements from Google are served on some ProZ.com pages. (These advertisements are typically shown only to non-registered site visitors.)
Cookies
ProZ.com may set and access one or more cookies (a small text file containing a string of characters) on users' computers. Cookies are used to store user preferences and to identify logged in users.
ProZ.com may use third party advertisements. Some of these advertisers may use technology such as cookies and web beacons when they advertise on ProZ.com, which will also send these advertisers (such as Google through the Google AdSense program) information including a visitor's IP address, ISP, web browser, and in some cases, whether Flash is installed. This is generally used for geotargeting purposes (showing New York real estate ads to someone in New York, for example) or showing certain ads based on specific sites visited (such as showing cooking ads to someone who frequents cooking sites). Google uses the DoubleClick DART cookie on publisher websites displaying AdSense for content ads. Users may opt out of the use of DART cookies and any other cookies used by Google Ads. For more information on privacy policies and available opt-out options applicable to Google Ads, see the Google Advertising and Privacy FAQs and the Google Ad and Content Network Privacy Policy.
If you have any questions or concerns regarding this privacy policy or ProZ.com's treatment of personal information, please direct them to site staff by submitting a support ticket.
Best regards,
Jason
