Hi Guys,

MT is going to be a topic of interest for translators for some time to come. I wonder whether we could accumulate and keep up a running list of interesting articles.

Here is one that caught me interest this morning:

http://www.globalization.com/newsIndex.cfm?newsID=04090209272721

Press Release

Globetech Ventures Corp.: TranslationWave and InternetSpeech Launch Voice Internet Language Translation

New Technology Removes Language Barriers -- Users can View English Web Content In Their Own Languages

For a professional translator it is better to know every single aspect of every development. Here are three reasons:

  • It keeps paranoia away

  • It keeps confidence up

  • It provides resources

I wonder what you think about this.

Ursula, a great idea. The link to this article was however removed, maybe you could repost the text in the thread, if you have it saved somewhere.

Thanks

Karin

Another good laugh or two Apr 10, 2002

I just visited http://www.translationwave.com

Well, as long as they offer groundbreaking \"Schwätzchenlösungen\" for \"MultiSprach-Schwätzchen\", and their \"Bezeichnungen and Bedingungen\" are not too legalese, I guess it\'s a matter of \"in Verbindung stehende Industrienachrichten\". BTW, did you know that \"stock quote\" means \"AuflagerAnführungsstrich\" in German?

Hmm, can\'t let this opportunity pass... Feel free to visit my fav MTranslated site, http://www.foundingfathers.org

You only need to \"Knipsen um zu gehen zum vorderseitigen Pagen\", or some such *gg*

Thank you so much, Sharon Apr 10, 2002

for the \"founding fathers\" URL. The Italian version is absolutely hilarious, too.

I especially liked the section title \"una vignetta si Ingavona\" (\"cartoon lists\" in the original). Now, how did it happen, I wonder? The machine actually invented a new word!

Really great

Federica
