I want to get a new photograph taken for my profile, etc., because the one that I have up there is terribly blurred. However, I do not know what size to ask the photographer for, nor whether I should ask for it in centimetres or pixels, for example. I also do not know if we need several in different sizes, for different purposes, or whether one will do, that will always be clear if it is the right size.

I am sure this info must be somewhere on the site, but I do not know where.

Astrid

Free photo editing software abounds. Sep 12, 2006

You can easily make a large photo small without losing quality, so I would say no smaller than wallet but as big as you want.

You can find it in your own profile Sep 12, 2006

Go to Profile - Settings - Uploads - Upload photo or image; it tells you there that the photo must be in the format of .jpg, .gif or .png, to a maximum size of 200 x 300 pixels.

One hint: sharpen Sep 13, 2006

When putting a photo into the net, always use finally (last step) the sharpen function. Then save the image and NEVER open and save it again, only copy and drag as a normal file.
The effect of sharpening is surprising, otherwise photos tend to look dull.
Regards
Heinrich

Why did you change your picture? I liked the previous one better. Can you put it back? Please?
