When glossary queries are sent out, I think it would be a good idea if the person asking could specify whether the translation is into UK or US English if this could be an issue. This can be very important, particularly in legal and technical texts.

I agree entirely. There are now so many \'Englishes\' - all equally valid- that it is necessary to specify whether the target reader of the translated text is British,American/Canadian or Australian. This applies not only to legal texts but to a great many others.
