Perhaps you have already noticed that erroneous ID \"verifications\" were issued overnight. This was due to a technical fault - you can recognise the incorrect VID\'s by the reference to a PayPal payment and the date (14APR2003).

The ProZ.com team has already been notified, and are working on rectifying the situation. In any case, this should not cause any major problems, since VID is not yet used for the functional control across the site.

Thanks for your understanding, and sorry for any inconvenience caused.

Best regards, Ralf

thanks for the information Apr 15, 2003

I\'d been wondering about that, and had already posted a query in the Italian forum.

Update Apr 15, 2003

Henry has posted an update here:

From the site status page:

--------------------------

A programming error has caused all site profiles to be marked as

having verified identities (with the date April 14, and the method

being PayPal payment.)

We are recovering the correct verification data from backup. For a

while, all verification display will be turned off.

The problem should be solved within a few hours.
