Is the BB only for agencies/outsourcers?

Hi all,

If this question has been asked before, I can't seem to find it. I was wondering if the Blue Board allows clients to enter feedback & ratings on individual translators as well. I think it is important to have that feature-- sometimes knowing just that little bit more about whom you could be dealing with really helps, don't you think?

Thanks in advance for your replies.

BB only for translators making comments about clients May 18, 2008

Please see the FAQ http://www.proz.com/faq/blue_board_agency

If a translator would like a client to provide feedback on their work, there is the WWA system
http://www.proz.com/faq/WWA

There is no system for a client who wants to post a (negative) comment about a freelancer.
This point has been discussed on several occasions through the forums.

WWA / Project History for translators May 18, 2008

Hi,

As far as I know, Blue Board is only for direct clients and agencies. It's a place where translators can enter information about them. And if you want to know more about a translator or if you, as a translator, want to get a rating from your clients, there's always the project history and WWA option. Except if a translator is also an outsourcer then others can enter details about him/ her as an outsourcer in the Blue-board.

Remember, the issues involved are quite different and you can't have the same solution for different issues/ problems. And not all agencies/ end clients can be bothered with putting in a rating. A good agency works with more than 5-10 translators at any given time while a translator may mostly work on one big project at any given time.

Add to this the fact that if a translator causes some problems an agency can choose another translator whereas when a translator starts having problems with an agency... the translator loses a lot of money (and it's often at the time of payment). And it is important for other translators to know about it so they don't fall into the same trap.

If you want to attract future clients by showing that your past clients are happy with your work, request for WWA entries or fill in details of your projects and ask your clients to corroborate. Difference between WWA and project history is that if a client is not happy with your work on a project, he/ she can enter a negative feedback in the project history and once it is there, you can not opt not to show the negative feedback; whereas, in case of a WWA a client can leave only a positive feedback.

I've just given a few examples and I'm sure you'll get some more interesting inputs from other colleagues.

Ritu

The WWA page May 19, 2008

The best place to request or to provide WWA feedback is the WWA page.

So far over 10,000 entries have been entered for over 4700 freelancers.

Regards,
Enrique
