I came in late to this thread, so I don't know whether I have been hijacked or not!
The link given earlier in the thread doesn't seem to be working now. All you people perhaps succeeded in scaring the pants off them and they have gone and removed the link. Now I don't know whether I am good enough or not!!
If anyone has seen me on the list, please tell me, it wold hurt my ego a lot if I had been to be left out!!!
But I want to know the truth!!

What about contacting their hosting provider and/or domain name registrar??
Mine at least have very strict rules on this sort of thing, and penalty is immediate suspension of the account.
Does anyone here know if this is feasable? I wholeheartedly agree that this should not be forgotten.
And PLEASE someone tell me that this conman and embarassment to translators has been removed from Proz's directory and BB!!!!!!

I won't do it, because I'll probably get banned too, but wouldn't it be amusing for all those who had their profiles stolen to do LWA entries for this agency? Along the lines of ..."I don't remember working for this outsourcer, but apparently I have been since August of this year." We could then send him invoices for our time since that date...

Thank you for letting us know you contacted the site and google to have the profiles removed.
Can the Proz staff assure us that the method this ....bad (ahem).... person used to steal our identities has been found and the problem fixed? Or that you are currently working on a solution?

Something along the lines of "I've been working with this agency since [insert alleged date] and have not seen a cent of what I'm owed" and wait to see the owner's reply :lol::lol:

I got the word a little late (Oct. 3) so they had removed most traces of me from their site. But I did find from the bits visible iafter googling

that I have only 3 years and 3 months experience translating Russian to English (which I have been doing since 1978) but 25 years experience with Italian to English (I think my first official Italian job came in 1995) and of course I now live in New Delhi. Would have loved to see more, but the cache was flushed even though the googling squibs were there if I could zero in on the right phrases.

My latest check showed that the problem has not really been fixed. Some members' profiles (e.g. Ken Cox, Viktoria Gimbe, Kevin Lossner, Steffen Walter among others) are still showing in the respective cache.
According to ProZ site staff "the removal of this material from the search engine cache has been requested". Actually, I think they have to do a little more about it (or does every single member need to send in a support ticket to have their info deleted?).
BTW, it strikes me that quite a few colleagues are listed in translationdirectory.com's freelancer db, some of them with astonishingly low per-word rates and scarce, if any, contact details...
