Hi!

The language list need a major update. As an outsourcer, we get often translations from/to languages that are not even mentioned in your list.
You may argue that these are very minor languages, but often I find that languages with several million speakers are not even mentioned.

Could we have a language list based on ISO 639-3 for instance? I'm not asking for all languages of the world, but put a cap at

With the language policy of the Swedish authorities, we're often translating jobs for 18 immigrant languages simultaneously, and these are the cases where Proz would really be of use. But so far, the language list is a let down with many white spots on the map...

Take a look at http://www.ethnologue.com/web.asp for reference.

Which languages are you missing? Oct 11, 2005

We use the ISO 3-letter codes (although we don't show full depth in all areas of the site.)

Which languages do you require?

Right now, I'm looking for a translator from Djerma/Zarma (ISO-639-3: dje)

Earlier, we've had requests for variants of sami languages and meänkieli, variants of kurdish and syriac languages, etc etc...

For the Zarma job, I discovered that Songhai is listed in some of your lists, but not always available for selection.

Perhaps it was not there from the start, so when you extended the language list, existing members couldn't select it? And now after you've extended it, those who already registered never bothered to check, so they haven't amended their profile?!

Best,

Jan

In the directory, you can select between:
Norwegian
Norwegian (Nynorsk)

So in this case, I guess it's just a case of adding a parenthesis to the existing entry?!
