During the conference, the cheapest and most environmentally-friendly way of getting around Nice is on foot, by vélo bleu (city bicycles), or by bus. Since the first one is fairly straightforward, I won't go into much detail.
I just want to point out that bicycle Station No. 29 is the closest station to the conference venue and you can pick up or drop off your bicycle here. For more details about rental fees, etc. you can visit the site http://www.velobleu.org
As for the bus, you have two options, either Lines 20 or 30. Line 20 drops you off one stop away from the Maison du Séminaire but runs more often than Line 30.
To get on Line 20 from the center of town, you can take the tramway to the stop "Vauban". Continue on foot towards the University of Saint-Jean-d'Angely and go to the bustop "Saint-Jean-d'Angely" on Ave de Roquebillière (first cross street you come to). You'll take the bus to the stop "Saint-Aignan Pilate". Continue walking (with the sea to your right) towards the restaurant La Réserve. La Maison du Séminaire is right across the street. You can always check on this map to find a better connection with another bus line depending on where you are staying: http://www.lignedazur.com/ftp/FR_plan/Nice%20CANCA.pdf and another with downtown details: http://www.lignedazur.com/ftp/FR_plan/Nice%20Tram%20(08)%2037%20(2).pdf
Finally, you can always get a taxi by calling the Central Taxi Riviera Nice 04 93 13 78 78. This is a central reservations company that handles all taxi reservations for Nice.

Where is the Musée AAV exactly? Couldn't find it on a map - is it within walking distance from the Maison du séminaire ?

Musée AVV location
Nov 23, 2009
After several attempts, I finally found the web site for the Musée AVV:
Musée Museaav, 16 Bis Place Garibaldi Nice 06300
Tél:09 79 02 95 33
Fax: 04 93 56 21 19 E-mail : info@museaav.com
Ouverture du Mercr. au Dim. de 14h
It is not within walking distance from the Maison du Séminaire but I suppose that several guests from that hotel can share a taxi back from the event.
It would be nice to have some hotel suggestions nearby, conveniently located to be able to walk or take a short tram ride to/from the hotel on Friday for the Irish pub and on Saturday for the Gala evening. I tried several times to reach the Nice Tourism Office but they are always too busy to take the calls!
ANY SUGGESTIONS from locals? Thanks in advance.
Catherine, from Aix-en-Provence
