I am very happily married to a wonderful woman, so this is very uninteresting for me. I wonder whether these people have found a way of spamming Proz members via Proz email. Shouldn't a mechanism be added to keep them from doing it? I am, for instance, thinking of a distorted bitmapped word that is not machine-readable.

Anyway, the staff reported the app. action has been taken.

Yes, we are Nov 21, 2008

I receive a couple a month, some inviting me to marry them, others begging me to take their money.

Most of the spammers (including the one you mention) seem to have taken the trouble to register with Proz - I'm not sure how the site could take steps against that, except by requiring everyone to provide credit card details on registering or the like. They certainly delete the offending profiles very quickly once spamming is reported.

I had no idea. She seemed so keen on me and everything. I must say I am pretty heartbroken about this.
I feel betrayed.
I may never recover.....

Charlie, you know what they say: there's plenty more spammers in the sea!

Do a Google -you'll find Rosemary registered on a few more (mostly dating) sites, including rigistration as an alumna of one school.
Dakar's not that far from you, is it?

SITE STAFF
Reporting spam Nov 21, 2008

Hello all,

Spam is difficult to keep under control. The best way of helping the site to control the emails you receive is by reporting unwanted email. Email sent via your profile will include a link at the bottom, as we can see in the message Tomás has posted:

Unsolicited advertising? Spam? click here: http://www.proz.com/?sp=ef&report_spam=XXXXXXX

Clicking on that link will automatically generate a support request with the information on the message you received. This 1) immediately prevents further spam emails from being delivered from that particular sender (protecting other possible victims), and 2) allows staff to take appropriate action, and to help prevent further spamming to you and the rest of the community. You can also report spam by submitting a support request if you have received a message via ProZ.com which does not include the report link.

While we're on the topic, I'd like to thank the members who regularly report these emails and have to a great extent helped reduce the amount of spam the rest of us receive.

Best regards,

Jared
