Slow job notifications

I'm quite new to ProZ, so it's possible that I'm not using the site correctly. I have ticked all the boxes for notifications, but they take so long to arrive. I know there is a two-hour time lag due to my time zone, but even so the jobs seem to take another two hours to filter through to my mailbox (not ProZ). How can I be quicker off the mark without constantly flipping in and out of ProZ? Have I missed something? I find it is quite time-consuming / disrupting to keep looking. Help (exclamation mark).

Using your jobs dashboard and resolving notification problems Apr 10, 2008

Dear Georgina,

There are several factors involved in your jobs notifications, from the configuration of your email settings in your profile to possible issues with your email provider.

To begin with, I see that in your Jobs dashboard (under the "Settings" tab in your profile, "Jobs dashboard"), you have most of your options set to "off"-- this is preventing you from receiving a great number of notifications for jobs in your language pairs and areas of expertise. As a side note, you'll see you have similar options for KudoZ notifications in your KudoZ dashboard.

If you are not receiving notifications, or receiving them late, a good first step, after checking your email settings, is to visit your Mail Monitor, http://www.proz.com/?sp=mail_monitor , which allows you to see whether you were sent a notification for a given job or KudoZ question and when. If you were not sent a notification, the Monitor will tell you how to adjust your settings. If you were sent a notification but did not receive it, the Monitor will give you some steps to help resolve the issue.

You can also submit a support request on this. Please be sure to include specific information (the number or page url of the job or jobs for which you did not receive notification, the job notification and email headers in the case of late notifications) to help staff better look into your specific case. notifications switched off Apr 20, 2008

I had switched off notifications because I've been away and didn't want an overflowing mailbox! Also, I know about the Mail Monitor. Next week when things get going again I will look at it more systematically to see if job notifications are slow. If so, I will do as you suggest and send in a Support Request.
