Why cannot I quote on a job?

Hello,

I have noticed that no matter what the job is, I can never quote on it because apparently I'm not a student. I have checked and rechecked my profile and it specifies that I am a student, so why do I always have this "restricted job" label??

"Restricted job
The outsourcer has chosen to restrict quoting on this job to those who:
... are native speakers of the target languages (You have reported you are.)
... are not students.
You do not meet all the necessary criteria for quoting on this job"

Any help would be appreciated!

you are a student? Mar 17, 2009

If you are a student (your profile states you are) and if outsourcers restrict their jobs to "people who are not student", it is normal that you can't quote. Or did I miss something?

Not for students Mar 17, 2009

Hi Marie,

you have a student profile. AFAIK, student profiles cannot quote on jobs. And the requirements you listed say that the job is restricted to those who are native speakers of the target language and are working professionals (students are excluded).

A support ticket is the best way to find answers to similar questions

Description of student membership Mar 17, 2009

Dear Marie Gouy,

You will find the description of Student memberships here:

You may also be interested in the following item from the FAQ:

"3.5 - Will student membership help me to get clients?
No, not directly. As a student member, you will not appear in the directory of professionals, and you will not be permitted to quote on posted jobs.
On the other hand, any networking that you do, or trainings that you take advantage of, may help to reduce the time it takes to build your client base when you enter the professional phase of your career."

change your Account type Mar 17, 2009

I suppose you might want to change your Account type to "Freelancer translator and/or interpreter" if you are not a student.
After that, you should be able to quote on jobs.
