I just wonder how it is technically possible to post a job without citing rates.

And that too for the moment restricted to platinum members Jul 13, 2004

To enjoy such offers one should become platinum. The other day a free job was restricted to platinum members. No thanks.

This is possible Jul 13, 2004

Good morning all,
It is possible to post a job without payment. What's important is that this fact is clearly communicated, so people can make up their mind whether or not this is a sensible proposition.

Best regards, Ralf

Actually not so bad Jul 13, 2004

I don't think it's offensive at all; $29.95 in software for 150 words?

??? Jul 13, 2004

Job Description:

"Translation of application with a small manual. About 150 words (not counted)".

It does not say "Translation of a small manual". It says "application with manual"!!!

Honestly, in 18 years, I have never seen such a "small" manual!

imho, this is offensive.

Hello Aniello,
As somebody who quite often does these kind of favours to small companies I had to check what offensive means,

of·fen·sive [\'] I. adj. regelmäßige Adverbbildung 1. beleidigend, anstößig, anstoß- od. Ärgernis erregend;
2. \'widerwärtig, ekelhaft, übel: offensive smell;
3. angreifend, offen\'siv: offensive war Angriffs-, Offensivkrieg m; offensive weapon Angriffswaffe f;
II. s.
4. Offen\'sive f, Angriff m: take the offensive die Offensive ergreifen, zum Angriff übergehen
© Langenscheidt KG, Berlin und München

I still do not completely understand your point. I do not believe that such an offer is beleidigend, anstößig, anstoß- od. Ärgernis erregend, widerwärtig, ekelhaft, or übel. I am not offended and I hope they find some good translators to help them. They might be successful and grow, and they might come back. Some did at least in the past and are now contributing some 70% of my guaranteed monthly income.

Three cheers to the small companies !

No money - but software! Jul 13, 2004

Unfortunately the given homepage address is mainly "under construction" (the German and Swedish part) but I would like to know what kind of software I can receive by translating the 150 words...

No cash for job, only a free copy of fullversion.

Maybe it's worth it...
