How about KudoZ ranking by average grade instead?

This would give a better idea of expertise, obviate the need for separate overall and past three months lists, and eliminate what has been called the time factor. Obviously answerers would need to accumulate a certain number of offers before making the list at all, and the grade should be something like total points divided by number of answers offered, not selected, so that unselected answers would count against one.

Or, simpler still, forget about points altogether. Their validity has been so much called into question and they have been the cause of so much bickering that this option must tempt more than a few of us.
