They are search engine robots, they do simply web page indexing - similar to Google's robots.

Proz doesn't block the Chinese crawlers

At least in may case, the Chinese crawlers have IP numbers that are a little different every time, and they are not blocked as the other crawlers are. So they show up again and again. I block them, but new ones keep cropping up.
