Hi guys,
I wanted to share with the community an e-mail machine translated I received from Proz marketing dept. It was fun but also sad to see that "The cobblers children walk barefoot" even in the translation world. They could have taken the time to proofread it... mixture of English, Spanish, formal, informal, everything... just what you should never do... Helen if you read this please let me know if you need proofreaders and I'll send you my rates.
Here is a taste of it, enjoy.

You're 100% right, this should not have happened, and steps will be taken to make sure it doesn't happen again. My apologies.

It shouldn't have happened at all
Apr 27, 2011
Jared,
It shouldn't have happened at all. With so many ENG-SP translators acting as moderators or even as staff members, somebody could have translated this properly or at least taken a look or even noticed it.
Besides, is this the example a site for professional translators wants to give? Using automatic machine translations? Shame on you!
Anyway, thank you Jared for your quick reply.

I see the ads at the top of some Kudoz questions and on the home page when I'm not logged in. On top of that, the MT service advertised has direct links to Proz (members, marketing people etc).

Hi Walter,
I can only agree with you there.

Hi writeaway,
For some types of work MT can prove useful, but I wouldn't confuse the tool with its effective use (e.g. if used, proper post-editing or proofreading, etc.).
