KudoZ: allow a minute or two for the question to remain "unanswerable" (staff:'opting against this')

Allowing a minute or two for the question to remain "unanswerable"... I mean:

1)asker posts question.
2)everyone is notified by e-mail or sees it appear on-line.
3)now the prospective answerers have a minute or let´s say two to do a fairly reasonable and more careful search, either browsing dictionaries or the Internet.
4)after that "searching" time, the question becomes "open"
5)answering time: "agrees", "disagrees", and so on and so forth, "hey I came in f... See more

5)answering time: "agrees", "disagrees", and so on and so forth, "hey I came in first", "I agree but you have a spelling mistake", "sorry, the rush"...

As I see it, these steps would tend to lower the rhythm of some answerers, like myself sometimes, and consequently allow for better responses.

I have no idea whatsoever as to the technical feasibility of this but it might be worth thinking about it at least.

My concern is the balance between harm and good Jun 7, 2005

It is not clear to me whether this change would be good or bad on balance. While it would discourage "rush" answers, it would also make it impossible for someone who knows the answer to answer immediately. I would not discount this interesting idea, but we prefer to first try other solutions to the problem you identify.
