Hi there,

In my profile I always check the "Visitors" tab, and I like knowing the IP location of my visitor. That's the purpose of the "Original IP Address" column. However, I find it rather frustrating that the Geobyte IP Locator that ProZ uses very rarely works: most of the time I get the annoying "We are unable to locate the address [whatever IP] at this time." message.

Am I having bad luck or that website just doesn't work? And if it doesn't, could we have another IP locator that actually works?

Thanks a lot in advance, and keep up the good work!

the same happens to me Mar 22, 2006

it's not just bad luck.
and when it happens, it's not just "at the moment". sometimes I try again by clicking on that samen IP later, but usually it does not work.

Try IP2Loc; this is what I use most of the time.

Exactly. I always use http://www.whois.sc/ (suggested once on this forum). It works every time. Why not change Geobytes to this one, or any other that works?

Good to learn Mar 22, 2006

I am not the only one!

I use http://www.melissadata.com/Lookups/iplocation.asp?ipaddress= but it really bothers me to copy/paste the IP address.

Could we get rid of Geobyte? It would be great!

Thanks guys!

Andrea
