Don\'t you think that some people choose the agree, disagree and neutral options just to get more browniZ as they don\'t give an explanation for that choice?

This could drive the asker(especially if s/he is not a pro) to choose a bad answer just because s/he sees that one answer received more \"agrees\" that another one.

Thank you!

BrowniZ chasers Dec 29, 2002

This is clearly the case with members who routinely agree with all or most of the answers offered for a particular question.

BrowniZ should be awarded on a per-question basis, no matter if you agreed once or ten times.

Also, agreeing on closed questions should award no BrowmiZ (maybe this is the case, but it was an issue some time ago).

On the other hand sometims I agree with an answer by just clicking my agreement. Most of the time I don´l feel further comments are required.

I add a comment, for inatance, when the answerer offers two options and I prefer one of them.

Heaping on unnecessary agrees Dec 29, 2002

is what irritates me.

When an answer already has 10 agrees, and other answers have none or maybe one, is it really necessary to heap on 10 or 15 more agrees? This is clearly Browniez-chasing.

I remember one (the only!) answer that had 25 agrees!

Choosing Neutral awards no BrowniZ

This could drive the asker(especially if s/he is not a pro) to choose a bad answer just because s/he sees that one answer received more \"agrees\" that another one.

Thank you!

That\'s not always the case, at least from my experience. Sometimes my answers got many Agrees and they were not chosen by the asker, sometimes they were chosen without any Agrees...

And in the same way, when choosing and answer, lots of Agrees does not necessarily mean that one is THE correct answer.

By the way, I\'ve seen a few \"Pros\" choosing answers which were definitely not the most appropriate ones...

What I do is not to pay attention to those \"irrelevant\" matters but concentrate on helping others and getting some help.

After all, that\'s the aim of the site, or am I wrong?

The most important thing is that you\'ll find really nice people and excellent pros

But since we are all human beings, we ALL make mistakes, don\'t we?

Happy New Year and good luck!

Andrea

Yes, unfortunately, there are lots! Dec 30, 2002

In addition to some of the comments already made on this issue, I would add my tuppence:

Why is it that a certain number of people (and they know who they are) who continually insist on giving \"agrees\" to the answer that has already been selected by the asker? There can be no other reason that for BrowniZ point scoring. What other point is there - the question is closed, and akser has given his verdict.

Surely something could be done to stop this stupid practice.

AT LEAST NOT IN MY CASE Dec 30, 2002

I have over 21000 Brownies and normally I do not bid. I feel that if other persons grade my answers, they deserve their answers to be graded also.

However, this could be occasionally the case of persons that hardly answer any questions, and that bid frequently.

But you will notice that many members have thousands of Brownies in their account, and it would take them months to use them for this purpose (and even for consulting the Blue Board, if they are not Platinum members)

SITE FOUNDER
Please enter agree / disagree whenever you do agree / disagree Dec 30, 2002

This is a common scenario: user reads email notification, has a translation in mind, clicks on the link in the email, and arrives at the KudoZ page to see that her answer has already been given, accepted, and agreed with. The natural inclination is to add one more agree.

This is how it should be. The additional agree not only reinforces the \"correctness\" of the answer (at least as will be deduced by various algoritms, such as archive searching), it also shows something about the agree-er (at least that they were there!)

In short, if you arrive and a page and agree/disagree with the answers, you are encouraged to say it!

Some more about the issue Dec 30, 2002

What I wanted to underline is that some non professional users of this site, posting a KudoZ just to ask, for example, what is the French for a sentence in their native language, could choose an answer just because it was the first in the list (but maybe not the right or the best one)and it received a lot of agrees because it was easer for brownies chasers to say I agree.

Non professionnal Dec 30, 2002

I do not believe that people who have obtained many brownies are \"non professional\". See the list of them just to make an idea.

Though I am not a kudoz or brownies addict, I respect those who have time or who take time to answer and agree or disagree. The names I often see in my language pairs are really professional.

And if sometimes other people are taking advantage of the system, is it really a problem?? It is far more important for me to get a brilliant answer when I am in trouble with a translation.

I wish all of you a wonderfull new year.
