See more Dear fellow ProZians, Quite often we have a look into our the list of visitors on our profile, and try to find out at least what country and city the visitors are coming from. However, in 19 cases out of 20, the Geobyte IP Address Locator (which comes up automatically) is unable to locate the IP address, which is quite frustrating. We are quite sure that there are far better locators on the net. Maybe staff could introduce a new feature with a list of different IP locators, and any member could simply set a suitable locator. Of course, one locator in the list could be default (but please not the Geobyte - it's not very convincing, to put in diplomatically). Thanks. Erik ▲ Collapse | | | Agree completely! | Jun 17, 2007 |
Isn't it just disappointing? I've turned to another IP locator (http://www.analysespider.com/ip2country/lookup.html) to find out the addresses. But Geobytes (and the the laughing man in their page) makes me truly frustrated. Regards! | | | You are right | Jun 17, 2007 |
The Geobytes service seems to be less useful than it had been in the past. We'll look into switching to an alternate service. Thanks. | | | It has never been useful, to tell the truth... | Jun 17, 2007 |

In my experience, the IP address locator can identify the IP address, country, region, and city of the visitor. Unfortunately, this is not always the case - sometimes it cannot. Hello everyone, We're now using melissadata for ip location. We're also looking into offering several different ip location utilities soon. Please let us know if you experience any problems using the new link. Best regards, Andrew | | | Goodbye, Geobyte! | Jun 20, 2007 |
