Hi,

I have noticed a difference between the fields offered to potential customers in the Freelancers' directory (accessible by clicking "New! Freelancers") and the fields that a freelancer can select when creating their profiles.
One of my specialisms is "Hotels", which can be selected in the Freelancers' Directory form, but which I cannot select in "My profile". It would be great to make the 2 lists consistent.

Also, in the Freelancers' directory, I have selected my language combination, one of my specialisms (say "Computers: software"), Trados (which I use), ID verified, but my name did not come up. Please advise.

Laure

Are you searching for "credentials verified"? Apr 8, 2005

Hi there,
As far as I can see there is no "ID verified" search field. Perhaps you are searching for "credentials verified" instead?

All the best,
Amy

Select "Tourism & Travel" and you will come up under "Hotels = Tourism" Apr 8, 2005

Hi English2French,

The way we do the pull-down menus is a little unorthodox. Because, for example, some people think "cars"--while our "official" category is "automotive"--we add double-entries for some fields in pull-down menus. These "psuedo-fields" do nothing but point to our "official" categories.

In the case of the category we officially call "Travel & Tourism", for example, we add a psuedo-category called "Hotels = Tourism" that simply points to "Travel & Tourism". So if you enter "Travel & Tourism" in your areas of specialization, your name will come up in directory searches for "Hotels = Tourism", too.

Note that any time you see a category with an equal sign (=), that is a double entry representing another category.

Thanks for your support of the site! I hope this my explanation is clear.

Hi Amy, Apr 8, 2005

Sorry, I meant I was looking for "Professional Credential Status", which I think is verified for me as I have a large star?

Ok, I have checked and you are right, if I select Hotels = Tourism, my name does come up, provided I do not select "Professional credential status" as "verified".

But why will it not come up if I select "Professional credential status" verified since, as far as I know, it has been verified?

Credentials don't show up as verified Apr 8, 2005

Sorry for butting in - I guess Henry can give you the answer to this one, but anyway:

Your credentials don't show as verified in your profile.
"English to French by Institute of Translation and Interpreting" doesn't have confirmed underneath.

If you've sent details of your qualification/membership etc. to the Proz Staff already I guess you'll have to take it up with them.

Thank you Amy Apr 8, 2005

I thought and I asked for that verification and that the large star next to my name in the directory was proof of it, but I will check again.
