When I have logged on to the URL given in question, I find that the Japanese texts are replaced by symbols, so I cannot submit possible answers. Sometimes the question is written in readable Japanese in the email message, sometimes not.

I run Microsoft IME with language bar, which works with Word, Excel, PowerPoint etc., but toggling to Japanese within the KudoZ question page does not work. Please advise how I solve this problem. Derek J Newport

Most probably you will need to change the 'character encoding' setting on you browser. I think it is to be found under 'View' on most browsers.

Try changing it to: Japanese (Shift_JIS)

View > encoding > Japanese (auto select). Works every time for me regardless of which computer i'm on and the operating system that they use. Good luck.

It works for Chinese as well Oct 23, 2005

I've had the same problem in viewing Chinese characters. By following wellmateer's solution, I chose View>Encoding>Chinese simplified and my problem is solved as well. Thanks.
