Hi everybody...

I am about to install Trados on my PC, do I have to install the dongle before installing Trados, or should I install Trados first? Or is it the same?

And the dongle must be inserted only when I use Trados, or can I leave it inserted in the PC PORT?

Thank you very mch for your support!!!

Carla

Dongle Jul 26, 2002

Hi Carla,

I would suggest to run the setup with the dongle inserted in the port. At the end of the setup process select the option \"configure dongle driver now?\" (or something like that, depending on your version) and click finish. You need the dongle inserted only when you use Trados, but you can leave it in the port at any time (altough some friends of mine had problems, with the printer connected to the dongle).

Congratulations for your new buy!

Massimo

you can do as you want Jul 26, 2002

According to my experience

1. there is no difference between installing without dongle or WITH dongle. To stay on the safe side, I would recommend to install WITH Dongle inserted.

2. You can leave your dongle in the Port day and night, and plug a printer to the back of it: if you don\'t need to take it on another computer, it can stay there all life long!.

Ciao

USB Dongle Jul 26, 2002

Hello people,

actually I did not have any problems installing my USB dongle after the software installation.

According to the manual if you do not have the dongle installed, Trados runs in demo mode only.

Jerzy, why has one to be careful with USB dongles?

Regards,

Yannis

The installation of USB dongle Jul 26, 2002

I was adviced by the software to pull my dongle out before installing and first then set it in. This is, because when you put in an USB dongle on a Windows 98/ME/2000/XP, it will be detected by the operating system and the system requires a propoer driver for it. After you have installed the software, a proper driver is already there, so the OS only detects the dongle and then finds the driver, so you do not need to advice the system, where the dongle driver is.

Otherwise it won\'t work - why I don\'t know.

The very good advice is to download the latest dongle driver (especially the USB one) from:

thank you all Jul 26, 2002

Thank you all

I think I\'ll install the software first so the dongle driver is already there

Have a nice day,
