Hello!

I am writing thids thread because I have been receiving spam e-mails since I changed the e-mail address in my profile.

As my usual e-mail account had been having some delay problems a while ago, I changed my e-mail address in my profile to my Outlook one in order to receive e-mails coming from proz.com.

I had never received spam in that account and I started receiving since that day.

I am writing thids thread because I have been receiving spam e-mails since I changed the e-mail address in my profile.

As my usual e-mail account had been having some delay problems a while ago, I changed my e-mail address in my profile to my Outlook one in order to receive e-mails coming from proz.com.

I had never received spam in that account and I started receiving since that day.

I thought that our e-mail addresses couldn't be seen by others, but apparently viagra and rolex "spamers" (I don't even know if the word exists...) could get it and are now sending me about 10 e-mails A DAY asking if I want viagra or a rolex!

I have now changed to the e-mail adress I had before again, but it keeps on happening in my outlook account. This is very boring because I use this outlook account only for business purposes and now I am receiving this kind of e-mails.

Can anyone please tell me why is this happening?

I have not heard this from others. Please enter a support ticket if you require assistance with this.

One thought: is it possible that your "new" address was used by another person previously?

Thank you for your prompt reply.

No-one has used this new e-mail address before. I was attributed an e-mail address by my Internet provider composed of numbers and letters all mixed up and had the opportunity to change it into a new one, which I did.

I will submit a support ticket, thank you for suggesting it.

When I sign in different websites I usually provide the e-mail address I also provided in this site and I usually receive a lot of spam e-mails in that one, so I never thought it could have come through/by proZ. I only noticed that when I changed to the other address. ▲ Collapse

Is there a reason why my posting doesn't appear on the home page? Aug 8, 2006

I noticed that this thread hasn't been read by many people and that it isn't shown in the home page.

Is that a reason for that?

I would like to have some answers from other people on this subject and I think I haven't have because the posting is not available on the home page. At least, when I come to the proZ home page I lonly ook at all the fora in the home page and read those that interest me. I don't click "see additional fora" in order to see the rest. Maybe I shou... I too thought that the e-mail address was generally there just for ProZ.com and not visible to visitors. I didn't notice that you answered this in your reply to Ivana.

I suggest to Ivana that she contact her ISP and try to get them to reduce the spam. I have had a dreadful problem with spam on a previous e-mail address, which I believe started with someone vindictively sending my e-mail address to spammers. I now only use that address for limited purposes and visit it on webmail ... See more
