Gary - awesome - thank you Jun 13, 2003

I just love those old things, you know..
Last year I did some translations of 19th century clergy correspondence for Alberta's Redemptorists (Ukrainian/Russian mix into English).
How does it work? What if several people do the same text?

Basically, it's unstructured. You just
translate the text and send it to the
e-mail address provided under the image
of the scanned document.

For a long document, it might be advisable
to contact the person to see if someone's
already done it if it was posted a few
days ago.

There are also documents in Yiddish and
Hebrew, but there are no discussion forums
for those languages here on ProZ. I've
cross-posted to the Polish group, but there
are also sometimes documents in other
East European languages.

I'd love to help, but... Jun 16, 2003

Is there a way to increase the size of the document on-screen? I am finding those very hard to see, and I can't make them bigger. If you send me an enlarged scan, I'll be glad to help.

What you see is a thumbnail image. When you double-click on them
they should download at full size. I've done this using different
browsers on different platforms.

The document is almost always scanned at sufficient resolution
to read (allowing for the quality of the original).

Wow, thanks! Jun 27, 2003

I'd love to help when I have the time.
Could you suggest any website about the pre-reform Russian alphabet?
