Хороший метод. Но есть и более простой.

Открыть рисунок, select > select color, кликнуть "пипеткой" нужный цвет (например, синий) > tolerance=200 > OK > delete

Все.

... рисунки сделаны разными (но не близкими) цветами, то он не сработает. А графический редактор позволяет отдельно заниматься каждым цветом.

как раз и нужно выставить tolerance=200 - все близкие оттенки будут выбраны
