Recently, I entered the world of collecting toy robots. Perhaps some of you have played with them during your teenage years in Russia.

The photo shows a Russian toy robot made around the 70’s. It is about 6 inches tall. For some reason, I find this piece interesting.
Can anybody provide information about it ? All I know is that it was made in Minsk.

I wonder what was the name of this robot, if it had any.

Regards from Spain.

wow! Mar 10, 2005

I haven’t seen this toy since I was a boy!!!
I possessed one (perhaps two) but I don’t think it had a name. It was just “Robot”, “my robot” or “Robo” I guess. One had to wind it up with a winder on the robot’s back so that it could walk and make a “mechanical” noise.
Thanks for recalling me my childhood.
Good luck.

It is "modern" model of the toy. To be honest, I have never seen it before!!! But, in my childhood, there was a robot, which looked similar to this one (its design was more "cubical" as this one). So I think it would be nice to find "parent" to this Robo

As to a name for this toy, I don't remember something special. Robot, just Robot. Perhaps, "Robik", in children's slang.

Antoher sample toy from Russia Mar 11, 2005

Nicolai, perhaps you are referring to this other Russian robot:

This is a more classical model. I wonder in what year it was manufactured. From the photo, I assume there is the word Robot written in cyrillic on the box. For many of you, this will be golden memories of the past.

Yes, you right! It's word ROBOT in Russian, РОБОТ.

more memories from childhood ... Apr 13, 2005

an authentic old tin & plastic wind up toy. It is a Russian-made spaceship lunar lander. The removable key sticks in the bottom. Wind him up and it walks and makes an engine sound. Very crisp colorful design. Shown with the original box.
