Just out of interest, is anyone else receiving hourly spam messages from an organisation offering to pay you (not well) for writing someone's essays for them? They have been arriving every hour since Friday morning, along with a "receipt requested" message - which I don't return. I'm hopefully going to get them blacklisted with my ISP tomorrow, but I just wonder if I'm the only person to find this intrusive and annoying! (Suspect I'm not...)

Hullo Clare,
I think you can get your email system to block these messages if you can identify at least part of the sender's name. It's infuriating, isn't it?
I haven't had the messages you describe, but used to get masses of spam, mostly offering to assist me with sexual difficulties, or "returned undeliverable" messages from addresses to which I had never sent anything. However, these have stopped recently, just as mysteriously.
Best of luck,
Jenny.

I did Mar 25, 2007

Some time ago, I received a message witha big PDF (total 10 MB) every twenty minutes. I have a 1 Gb inbox but it ran full. I got rid of it by entering it in the antispam of my internet provider. It wasn't a real spam, but a software error and after two or three days it stopped.

From personal and abusive porn to the Nigerian (now international scam). The beasts have discovered Proz and the ability to post through it.

We need stronger filters on the servers, guys!

A little clarification... Mar 26, 2007

...this is actually the same e-mail, from the same company, being sent out every hour - so it's not randomly generated spam or coming through ProZ's mail system. My ISP has an excellent spam buster so I rarely have problems - and the e-mail address it's coming from seems to be genuine and linked to the website it claims. It's a bit like NMR's case - is this deliberate spam or a software error?
