Is this really a scam?
I was contacted by him via TranslationDirectory so I didn't doubt it was a genuine offer for work, until I started looking for his padenatrans translation company and I found this forum!!
If this guy is a con man, then all websites should be warned about him!!
As work is today, anyone could fall into his trap!!

I had no intention of buying any software from anyone, so I checked his website first - there was no website. I found this thread and similar ones, so I replied to him saying that my current version of Systran would suffice, as Systran Business Translator is not a tool designed for professional translators. I was tempted to ask him for his credit card details, just for fun.
Interestingly, I also received an email from "Steve" padenatrans1@gmail.com, but my reply to him bounced back from gmail.
At least this idiot is somewhat predictable.

I received today the same message from Mr. Kevin Pine.
Of course I had to check first, before deciding if buying the product or not. He states in his e-mail that one can also buy the software by himself/herself, that made me think if that could really be a scam or not.
What if I find Systran Premium Translator myself? Is this really an agency, or what?
This is the first time such thing happens to me, so please give advice!

True, he is now after any kind of language combination, so am not surprised. I am glad though that I searched here and found this thread.
1) First thing I noticed was the hotmail address, instead of a company/corporate one. In the beginning I googled Prime Translations, as I was also contacted by this Kevin from Prime Translations and I found nothing to connect these two names. Then I searched here at Proz.com and voila!
2) The message was written in a poor way, which is another very clear "alarm bell" for scam emails. A PM from an agency, no matter how small, would never write like that or if he/she does, I would never work for them.
I received the very same email that Andrew has copied here. Great thing that colleagues share this kind of info here or any where else.
