After a lively conversation on the Yahoo Trados support list, listed on this forum a few days ago, people have made a concerted effort to contribute with vivid explanations of Trados functions they\'re good at in Trados. Check out the first subjects.

Likewise, if you feel you can support your colleagues in need, send your numbered explanations in a Word document to

Very useful Jan 13, 2002

I finally managed to feed the mutltiterm base and i translated a short text using your instructions i saw the green and blue zones, the source segments underlined with ............., the hidden marks but i don\'t know what benefit i will draw from that!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

i feel a bit less like an idiot!!!!!!!!!!!!!! but i still fail to see the future benefit!!!!!! since i don\'t know if that work was automatically fed into my translation memory. Does it mean that from now onward, trados will automatically propose a translation for every term translated beforehand using trados??????

Thanks anyway

Alex, try this: You might slightly change your orignal text by replacing one or three words. Then run it under Trados again & you will experience what TM can do to you (in a positive and negative way, though).

For a second I was very confused... Sep 14, 2010

... and then I saw the date

Today you have a lot more sources for help on how to use SDL Trados Tools, in addition to the help you get here;

http://talisma.sdl.com

http://www.translationzone.com/en/downloads/videos/

http://www.youtube.com/user/sdltrados

You also have an online help from the 2009 applications themselves.

Regards

Paul

yes, but no... Sep 14, 2010

Thank you, the only thing is that I don't find these websites very helpful... I mean, I never find the answers that I'm looking for! Trados is really not user-friendly and I am very confused, so I'm looking for a step-by-step guide... another one!

Step by Step Sep 14, 2010

Hi JoDucray,

I think the step by step guides are quite good if you find the right ones, including the online help here;

http://producthelp.sdl.com/SDL%20Trados%20Studio/client_en/GSTutorial/Links-Tutorials.htm

There are also three quick start guides with the product as pdf's.

There are also plenty of training courses you could attend. What exactly do you want to know about and then perhaps I could point you in the right direction?

Regards

Paul
