You state you just bought Trados 7. When you use Word 2007 there is no chance to get Trados 7 to work with it. BR Jerzy

I have Word 2007, so there is no chance i can work with Trados 7 and Word 2007? Or do i need to buy a new Trados for Word 2007? Thank you
Why repeat the question? | Jun 12, 2008 |
If you are using Word 2007, you are doomed; they are not compatible. Jerzy (one of the TRADOS experts in this site) just told you that Word 2007 does not work with Trados 2007, or viceversa, as you wish. I don't think TRADOS will let you return the license; this imcompatibility is well discussed all over the Internet, so it is not their fault. You need Word 2003.

We no longer sell Trados 7... | Jun 13, 2008 |
Hello Will, When you say Trados 7, do you mean SDL Trados 2007? Trados 7 and SDL Trados 2007 are two different versions, Trados 7 being the older (2005) version. If it is SDL Trados 2007 then I can recommend a fix for your problem. However, Trados 7 is not fully compatible with Windows Vista or Word 2007 and this is most likely the cause of your problem. I hope this helps clear some things up. Many Thanks, Gareth Powell

I have Trados Freelance 7 is that SDL Trados 7? so there is a chance i can work with my Trados and work with Word 2007? or i have to take out my Word 2007 and get the older version 2003? that way i can use the program right? Thank you
You will have to downgrade to Word 2003 to use your Trados 7, or upgrade to SDL Trados 2007 (version 8.xx) to use your Word 2007. You can't use Trados 7.xx with Word 2007. I hope it is clear enough now. Cheers, Stanislav

Or reinstall Trados | Jun 14, 2008 |
That will put the Trados template (TradosX.dot) automatically to your Word 2003 startup folder.

Jerzy Czopik Germany Local time: 03:03 Member (2003) Polish to German + ... Make sure the Tradosx.dot is in Word startup folder and not in the Office folder | Jun 18, 2008 |
Please check in Word, where it has its startup folder (usually it is C:\Documents and settings\current user\Application data\Microsoft\Word\Startup). Than check the startup folder for Office, which is located in Program files, I do not remember the exact location now - simply check there. All Trados templates must be in Word startup folder, so if you have any of them elswhere, move them to the startup folder. And your macro security should be set to "Middle".
Or use TagEditor | Jun 18, 2008 |
I use TagEditor for almost all Word files. It's much safer than working in Word.
