What did you receive exactly, a TMX file, a TXT file, a TRADOS translation memory (one big TMW file and several auxiliary files.

What did you do exactly? Did you open a TMW file directly? Did you import a TXT file?

There must have been some error in the procedure.

My first step would be to ask the person who sent you the memory to check it and ask them if they can see the special characters. It could be that the TM was corrupted when they sent it.

The TXT fiele is: Jul 13, 2008

The txt file is the file you obtain when you export the Translation memory.

Are you sure you declared languages properly? Jul 13, 2008

Was the txt-format really an export from Trados 6.5?
Usually this works perfectly, when all language definitions are right.

TXT file Jul 13, 2008

Yes, I did import the txt file, so I think that the memory may be corrupted, I will ask to the person that have sent the tyt file to me to check if the memory is correct and have all the special symbols. Thanks for your help.

Could you check the TXT file? Jul 13, 2008

Could you open the TXT file in Notepad and tell us what's the first line of the file?

Solution Jul 13, 2008

Hi,

first of all - I guess you are talking about Estonian language, so I thin I might help - please adjust you regional settings at control panel, and choose Estonian for non-unicode programs, if you will see characters correctly, you can work with them, if not, characters were corrupted at your's client place and you have to request a new ones.

Best regards,
Andreas
