I have Windows Vista and SDL Trados 2007 Freelance. I can't open ppt files in TagEditor. When I try, the following message appears : (80003): TagEditor is unable to open this document because the file type is not recognised. I already checked the posts of this forum but couldn't find any working solution. Thank you for your help

Can you open the file in PowerPoint?
Jul 29, 2008
I am not joking - there's been cases, where the extension did not match the contents. Highly unlikely of course, but it does not cost much to check. And, of course, it could be an issue of say ppt 2003 vs 2007 or similar.

(Try) re-install Trados
Jul 29, 2008
Hi Aurelie,
don't know whether this is your case, but I had the same problem (TagEditor not recognizing a ppt file) after installing MS Office 2003 (SDL Trados 2006 had been installed previously, after having installed MS Office XP). Re-installing Trados solved the problem.

Filter Problem...
Jul 29, 2008
Hello Aurelie,
There may be a problem with your filter file and it may need replacing. To do this, please follow the instructions from the following SDL knowledge base article:
Was it the replacement of the filter or the reinstallation of Trados that worked?

I did what is explained under http://talisma.sdl.com/article.aspx?article=2209&p=1, that is proceed to a repair of SDL Trados via Control Panel/Modify or Remove Programms/ Modify SDL Trados and finaly Repair (By Default).
