TagEditor shows 80005 'Error while reading fields'

So, I have been translating this large file for the last week or so. I worked on it last evening as well. I am almost at the end. Today, without any warning (I swear I did not do anything out-of-ordinary while working on it yesterday) this error message shows (80005 'Error while reading fields') and TagEditor refuses to open my translation!

What do I do?

Hello Priya,

I would recommend using the open and repair function in MS Word as a first attempt towards fixing the document, please try the following:

Before importing the file do the following:

1. Open MS Word
2. Choose File -> Open
3. Select the Word file in the open dialog box
4. Click on the Arrow pointing down on the open button and select the option: 'Open and Repair'
5. The original file opens and shows the debug menu indi... See more

3. Select the Word file in the open dialog box
4. Click on the Arrow pointing down on the open button and select the option: 'Open and Repair'
5. The original file opens and shows the debug menu indicating some issues
6. Save the file (which fixes the issues)
7. Open the file in TagEditor
8. The file should open with no errors

Same error in Trados Studio 2009 Jul 3, 2012

Hi everyone,

I find the same error message in Studio 2009. I have a word document I have to analyse for a client and I cannot create a project.

Trados says: "Error while reading comments" when trying to convert the file into SDLXLIFF.

The document is rather complex. Lots of screenshots, comments etc.

I tried to open and repair, but this doesn't help!

Has anyone an idea?
