Hi,

I have translated with SDLX with relatively simpler format painting. This one is full of colours. Lots and lots of them. The other threads in the forum helped me sort out most problems related to format painting, but one problem still remains unsolved:

After I format the target segment and delete the source words from it, the format colours and tags remain at the end of the sentence and cannot be deleted. for example,

Apply format Oct 10, 2008

Each color bars at the end of the sentence indicate a format that is present in the source segment but has not been applied to the target segment. You can't delete them, instead you need to apply the missing formats to the target sentence, like this:

- Select Format Paint Mode in the Format Paint menu.
- Click on a color in the source sentence and then select the corresponding text in the target sentence (the text that should have the same format)
- Continue with each co

- Leave Format Paint mode by selecting it again in the Format Paint menu.

Hope this helps

I very carefully repeated the same thing for each segment to be formatted. May be there is something wrong in the sequence I am doing it:

1. I place the cursor at the beginning of the target segment.
2. I start translating the segment, unheeding the formatting.
3. Once the translation is done, I delete the untranslated bit. The words get deleted, but not the tags.
4. I then go on to format paint the translated text.

Someone mentioned something like SDLX format painting for idiots. I do think I need such a guide myself!
