When I have cleaned a document, Trados does not save a back-up file although I have ticked off 'Keep Backup' in the tools tab in Translation Memory Options - what am I doing wrong?

Try this... Nov 12, 2008

Please note that this only works for Word files...

Please make sure that the "Keep Backup" option is enabled, disable the option to "Move Backup Files" and then try cleaning the file again. You should see a .bak file appear in the same folder as your source file.

I hope this helps.

Many Thanks,

Gareth Powell

I quote the forum system:
When asking for help, make sure that you:

  • indicate the file format(s) involved

So, how about telling us what file format you were working on?

Missing back-up file Nov 12, 2008

Dear Gareth,

Thanks for your reply

I've tried the solution you suggested, but unsuccesfully - I've also tried to enable 'move backup files' but no backup files were created or saved in the specified folder. I work in Word 2007.

Thank you
