Hello,

I would like to see only the source text (original text) in my bilignual file. I have already translated all the document but now would like to see only the original. Is there a way?
I am using Trados 2007 and Word 2000.

Thank you

Can't you use the original document? Nov 23, 2008

You should have a copy of the document (untranslated) in the Inbox folder (email), shouldn't you?

Hidden text Nov 23, 2008

Gianni Pastore's advice is good - that''s the best way. Alternatively in Word you can select Tools / Options / checkmark Hidden text - that will show your bilingual file (recommended for Trados).

Do you have Logoport? Nov 23, 2008

I don't know if there is an option in Trados (but most probably there isn't).

However, if you have Logoport, you can convert the Trados format into Logoport and clean the biligual file into source.

Quick advice: always make a copy of the original document. That's the safest way

The other way around Nov 23, 2008

In case you cannot recover the original:

1. Open a new Trados TM.
2. Trados-clean your document.
3. Export TM on .txt.
4. Open a new TM with the opposite language pair and import the TM.
5. Auto-translate and clean (your doc.)

That's it.

Metatexis Nov 24, 2008

Even the demo version will do it. Open document and from Metatexis Word menu
http://metatexis.org/

1. Final version
2. Restore source text

Or use "Sourcetextonly" macro from:

one more way Nov 24, 2008

I have already translated all the document but now would like to see only the original.

i) get PlusToyz plugin for Word (google for it, or check my profile for a link)
ii) transform the bilingual document to a two-column word file using PlusToyz
iii) throw away or hide the second column (i.e. the translation)

Regards

Vito
