Hi everybody, I would like to know for whom the workflow with docx documents works in this way and which installation procedure and PC configuration you have:
1. open a docx file in WORD
2. translate it in Word with the workbench
3. close it
4. clean-up with the workbench from the menu Tools>clean-up
(not in Word with the makro tw4win.clean.main)

Hi Gregorz,
thank you, but in a different thread a collegue told me it works for him, so why shouldn't it work for everybody?
And if the Sales-departmente from SDL is wrong and I asked before buying the upgrade and I would have bought it only, if I could work with docx files the way you could work with normal doc-files...what should I think?

Uhm... I don't believe it...
Probably he uses the workaround described in the Talisma article I mentionned.
Take a look on it.
Workbench recognizes only RTF/DOC and TTX files.
The DOCX file structure is different and incompatible.
And if the Sales-departmente from SDL is wrong and I asked before buying the upgrade and I would have bought it only, if I could work with docx files the way you could work with normal doc-files...what should I think?

I have no problems whatsoever with docx files.
I can translate them both in Word and TagEditor.

Yes Grezegorz, I can. I just tested it again, just to make sure.
- I opened a docx file
- translated a few sentences with Workbench
- pressed ALT + F8 and selected tw4winClean.Main
File cleaned up without any problems.

No, you can't

So, you cleaned up the file in Word
Use Workbench > Tools > Clean Up, add your docx file and hit Clean Up...

Grezegorz, it works in Workbench just the same for me.
Seems rather odd to me that it should work for me and not for other people.
What operating system are you using?

Ehm...
Now, Vista Ultimate MUI fully patched.
Office 2007 Pro MUI fully patched (including the pre-SP2 Word hotfix recommended by SDL)
Workbench 8.2.0.835
I tested the FR-PL pair.
MUI is multilingual.
The initial versions were Polish.
You use English versions?
I suppose it may be a Trados bug related to localized OS/Word.
In fact, the Word workflow in Trados is still incompatible with Central European and other non Western languages (e.g. random font corruptions still occur) although Trados is "Unicode compatible starting from the 6.5 version"... LOL...
PS.
My docx file has jus ONE sentence
So the structure should be really simple

I'm getting angry, really angry about that problem. If it can work and for much users it don't, it is a Trados problem and SDL should provide help to solve the problem, but they don't! So if we could check it out here it would be great. Pleas tell us how you installed it on which computer system and what versions.

Mecarelli sent me a file which she says she cannot clean, but it worked for me.
Maybe because I'm using the US version of Vista and Office?
I don't know. As I already mentioned to Mecarelli, maybe a fresh install may help.

Exactly as I suggested in one of my previous posts.
It's not so stupid as you may think.
Several times, I experienced problems with different localized versions of MS Office (mainly FR, PL and ES).
E.g. the styles and the tables of context were systematically messed up.
I don't know. As I already mentioned to Mecarelli, maybe a fresh install may help.
I don't think so.
E.g. my installation is very clean and everything works OK... except the docx cleanup...
It seems a parser problem.
