Hi all,
After several hours of struggle I finally managed to import my .txt glossary into Multiterm. But O surprise my lovely accented characters (my glossary is EN-FR) have disappeared to leave room to squares, just as decorative but not very meaningful. What did I do wrong this time? I can't find anything in the documentation that I have.
Thanks.
Fred

8bit vs Unicode? Dec 3, 2008

... my lovely accented characters (my glossary is EN-FR) have disappeared to leave room to squares, just as decorative but not very meaningful.

Suggestion 1: Save the txt file (with the diacritics comme il faut) as a unicode file (in Notepad, select instead of ANSI the encoding UTF8). Then repeat the whole MultiTerm import procedure.

Suggestion 2: use multiTerm Convert routine to create a new TermBase and to fill it up.

Suggestion 3: convert the TXT file to XLS and continue with Suggestion 2:
See my profile for the video on how to use MultiTerm convert:
Does MultiTerm Convert give you indigestion?
Download the ZIP file and unpack its contents, then click on the
MultiTerm Convert.html. You will see a movie, about 7 minutes
long, on how to use the program to create a MultiTerm database
from an XLS file.
