Hi, all.
I was wondering if someone could help me with uninstalling Trados 2007 8.2 (Build 835)
from my Windows XP with SP3.

When trying to remove Trados using "Add/remove Program", I have Error 1309
saying "Error reading from file: ...Document and Setting\All Users\Documents\SDL...
" and something like "Verify that the installer can access". As with installing Trados,
I suspect that this is something to do with the file structure. The thing is that particular
file exists in that very directory indicated.

I really need to uninstall Trados once, because even if uninstallation failed, Trados now does
not function properly, i.e. only in demo mode! I'm in mess, ain't I?

I appreciate any suggestion/help from you. Thank you!

Taeko

Manually uninstalled Dec 12, 2008

I met with this type of error before.
1. I manually deleted the files out of folders without doing anything with Windows registry keys [they were to complicate to handle].
Next, I reinstall the Trados package successfully.
If you know the package location on harddrive [e.g. c:\Program files\SDL International, c:\Document and Setting\All Users\Documents\SDL International] you can delete it manually.
2. I have the Uninstall software in my PC, I can uninstall by using it as well.
3. If I still have trouble with registry keys and Trados license cannot be applied, I use utility like 'registry cleaner' to rearrange the Windows registry keys for me.
It can be complicate a bit if you are not familiar with Windows folder structures.

Regards,
SL

Thank you for your suggestions, Soonthon, although... Dec 14, 2008

I tried my best to manually uninstalled by running search on and deleting Trados related files
and folders, my computer still recognizes that Trados is installed and thus I am not able to
reinstall the software...Ummm.

I will wait for a response for my enquiry from Trados for another day, and I think, if the reply
does not come on time, I have to reluctantly reinstall my OS...Cannot help it.

Thanks anyway for your comment!
