Error when opening PPT file in Tag Editor

Hi all.

I receive the following error message when opening a PPT file in Tag Editor:

The instruction at "0x7c42dfb9" referenced memory at "0x0000000000014". The memory could not be read.

This is SDL Trados 2007.

The PPT file in question is over 30 MB. Could that play a factor?

Split file or extract text Jan 6, 2009

Your file can be either too big or it contains some special graphics or images.
My solutions:
- Split into smaller files
- Extract text by saving the ppt file as rtf.
- Translate directly by overwriting the orginal file: click on the outline tab and translate!

Try these or combine them and see how it goes.

Splitting it in three worked, thanks!

you can also reduce the file size by compressing the pictures.

Is there any SDL Trados guy who can reply this issue with some officical solution or hotfix?

My colleauge also came acorss the same problem and more worse splitting into smaller files doesn't work.

Hi Michael,

I think problems like these need to be handled on their own merit. Sometimes it is not a fault of the software at all, sometimes it is just a limit in the way the software works and sometimes it is a problem with the software. But for such a generic error message we would need to investigate the file itself.
