Hi,

I received TTX file for editing and saving target into a Word file.

I find no problem with editing but when I want to save target, it says it needs an original file.

I copied the original file into the directory but still it doesn't work.

Did I miss some other steps?

I got the TTX file and original file only. Do I need some TM files?

Thank you

Not if you just want to save as target. The problem must be somewhere else. Problems in saving TTX files as target are fairly common, and there's quite a number of reasons why it might not work.

Maybe. You certainly missed some steps in posting this request for assistance, such as the Trados version number and the exact error message you are getting. Help us help you, OK?

Regards,

Benjamin

The error message:

Unable to locate original file C:\..... Please copy the original file into directory and try again.

Trados version: 7

I tried but it didn't work.

Exact file name Jan 22, 2009

You're in luck - that message means you can actually do something about this.

You need the original, untranslated .doc file and you need to place it in the TTX file's folder before cleanup. It must have the exact same name as the one in the error message - rename it if necessary.

Alternative Jan 22, 2009

Alternatively, you can also open the TTX in Windows Notepad and modify the original file path in the TTX header. Works like a charm.
But you will ALWAYS need the original, untranslated DOC file.
