I've been asked to translate in Tag Editor and then

to deliver

translation memory files in TMX (not Trados) format.

Which steps are necessary for this purpose?

Thank you very much for your help.

Maria Folque

Export your TM Jan 29, 2009

Just do the translation as usual, then select Export in Workbench/File. There you can specify that you'd like to export the TM into tmx format.

Use Tageditor and Workbench Jan 29, 2009

From the Workbench, select File > Export, press OK on the first screen [Export], and in the screen [Create Export File] write the name for the exported TM in "File name", choose one of the TMX options in "Save as type", and press Save.

Thank you But I still have a problem Jan 29, 2009

Dear colleagues,

Thank you very much for your detailed explanation.

When I go to Export a very complex window opens asking for many details re: filter constraints list

I wish I could follow the steps you mention . But it's impossible in this window.
I've tried several times in Tag Editar, out of Tag editor ...

Could you or anyone else give me an idea ?

Thank you again
Best Regards
Maria

If you'd like to export the entire TM ... Jan 29, 2009

Would you like to export the entire translation memory? Then just click OK in the *Export* dialog box.

Then the *Create Export File* dialog box opens where you specify a location and a name for the export file. Choose the *.tmx file type from the File Type drop-down list.

Click Save, and that's it.

I hope it'll be fine.

RTFM Jan 30, 2009

Hi Maria,
sorry if I sound rude, but this is precisely an RTFM issue. I know that reading manuals is boring and tedious, but they may provide you with some very useful information now and then.

BTW, it took me one minute to find the information you needed in the Translator's Workbench Manual. So why not try reading/searching it?
