The client send me a PDF file and a .tag file .

She tell me in the email:
=========
I have attached a working file for the PDF file.
You will notice this is a .tag file and will need to be translated in Trados.
=========

I wonder what the .tag file is and how to open it in trados.

Export from Quark XPress Jan 31, 2009

Hi Jing Nie,
Unfortunately, you did not specify the software version you're using.

The client send me a PDF file and a .tag file .

CopyFlowGold uses the .tag extension for files exported from Quark XPress.

I wonder what the .tag file is and how to open it in trados.

Open it in TagEditor.

HTH, Ralf

.tag or tagged? Jan 31, 2009

I've heard people refer to tag-files (without the dot, at least they didn´t pronounce them) when they meant tagGED files.

Anyway, it doesn´t really matter, Ralf already gave a good suggestion: open it with Tag-editor.

Thanks, Ralf Jan 31, 2009

I use Trados 7.5. I tried to use tageditor to open it. But the error message is
(35017): SSlex0105e: Invalid token, Line 1, Offset 1.

I now wonder if my Trados is too old to open the .tag file.

Please help me to see if it is a tag file exported from Quark Xpress. Jan 31, 2009

I open the .tag file with Notepad.

The first paragraph is as following:
#boxname=bx1

@Poligrip purple=[C]
@Normal=
@Normal=[S"","Normal","Normal"]
@$:dental professional: You can play an important role in improving your patients’ oral health
#boxname=bx2

@PANTONE 214 M=[C]

If you can tell me if is a tagfile exported from Quark Xpress?

Probably QXP 7 or higher Jan 31, 2009

Hi again,

#boxname=bx1

Based on this, I'd say the .tag file was created using CopyFlow Gold from a QXP 7 file - but you would need to double-check with your customer.

IIRC TagEditor 7.5 could not yet handle QXP 7 files.
