Dear all,

I have the following problem. I am proofreading a document in SDLX, and sometimes, when I press ENTER to confirm the changed, SDLX performs an error and closes. The segments do not contain anything unusual; the errors occur from time to time, I am unable to predict if some segment would lead to an error or.

Any ideas what can/should be done? I have no idea about the nature of the error (no messages are shown).

Thank you in advance,
Natalia
P.S. I have SDL Edit 2007 SP2 (Build 7035)

Circumvention Feb 2, 2009

Hi Natalie,

I have the same problem now and then. I have not found the root cause. I haven't bothered asking SDL support about it yet but I found a way to get around it. Usually it is the same segment(s) causing the problems.

I avoid confirming them and when I am done with the SDLX files I confirm the through the menus (e.g. confirm all fuzzy matches).

Best regards
Kim

Not confirming Feb 2, 2009

Hi Kim,

Thanks for your suggestion; in fact, I am doing the same: I avoid confirming problematic segments. However, the problem is that it is impossible to guess which segment is "problematic", and there are about 3000 segments in my file. At present my own workaround is pressing the 'save' button after changing anything in the segment, however, 1) this is a bit annoying and 2) I sometimes forget clicking 'save' and it turns out to be that exactly this segment was 'problematic'...

I have a suggestion I hope it may help:
Check the problematic segments, if they contain dates, numbers, or acronyms so go to options in SDL Edit and uncheck "use automatch".
This has solved my problem, and I think it may solve yours.

Try this... Feb 4, 2009

Hello Natalia,

The problem may be caused by Automatch. I would suggest turning it off and trying again to see if it's what's causing the problem.

To do this please follow these instructions:

1. Open SDLX > SDLX Edit
2. Go to Tools > Options > Select the Automatch tab
3. Un-tick the option to "Use Automatch"
4. Press OK to accept all changes

I hope this helps.

Many Thanks,
