I use WinXP and TagEditor 8.2.0.835 ,

there is a file I am unable to open, the TagEditor begins to open it then closes itself. (Translator's Workbench stays open).

I had this problem once earlier as well, that time the technical department of the agency has checked the file, and they said it was ok.
We've tried with resaving to Trados 2007 but that has not solved the problem either.

Did you try to delete the Tag Editor registry settings? Mar 31, 2009

Sometimes this is caused by incorrect Tag Editor registry settings. You could try to delete the Tag Editor registry keys:

1. Run the Regsitry Editor (Start > Run > Regedit)
2 .Export all entries under HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Trados\TagEditor
3. Delete all entries under HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Trados\TagEditor
4. Try opening the .ttx file. If it still doesn't work, import the .reg file that you created in step 2 into the registry database.

I you still cannot open the file try testing the integrity of the .ttx file by renaming it to .xml and drag and drop it to Internet Explorer. (TTX files are .xml files and if their syntax is OK, IE should display the structure of the TTX file as tree.)

If it displays fine in IE, open the .ttx in Notepad and check the header make sure that it contains the correct information.

Good luck!
Olaf
